Create an Aussie Bushwalking app
An app would make all this info a lot more user friendly, and would make it simpler to search for a walk and then subsequently tick it off when completed. Could even have the information available offline which would be helpful when out Bushwalking without phone/mobile data reception.

Multiple GPS Files: "Suggest File Removal" Feature
Sometime multiple GPS files are problematic. The link below had a KML uploaded without the elevation details, the profile has been misleadingly rendered as completely flat. I recorded and uploaded a GPX which contains the elevation details but the profile is not updated. I assume only the first file is rendered.
I've also come across a few walks where the attached GPS file is erroneous, eg only contains 200m of a 10km track, the track is for a completely different walk. It would be nice if GPS files could be marked "Suggest Removal" and maybe the user can provide a…

Integrate Forum and Walk Page
It would be nice if users could post questions about a specific walk from the walk details page. Questions in the forum can get lost due to volume, one user may ask a question regarding a specific walk then a year later another user may have the same question (they would be unaware that someone else has already asked the question). Having the information in one place would make it easier for users and people updating the walk details, make the walks more accessible.
An added bonus would be when someone posts a question it could email the people who…
1 voteAnother idea I’ve also considered. Great minds :) A bit tougher to implement so I’m still working out how best to do this. I’ve noticed sometimes people will even ask questions in their tick comments so this would help avoid that.

Refine Elevation Profile
A minor change. Would it be possible to make the minimal value for the Y axis on the elevation profile chart to 100m? Currently some flat walks look really hilly to those who don't read the graph correctly. Example below varies between 0 and 10m. If the scale was a minimum 100m the walk would appear flat (as it should). Thank you
1 voteYes, this has been bothering me too. On the todo list.

Change of Profile Format, and Advanced search options
Would be great to be able to search walks by grade, distance, and duration.
Also user profiles should be changed from a simple list of exploits to contain extra information.
- An experience level gauged by ticked walks to allow users to know from what perspective a review of a walk is coming from.
- An achivements list Highest/Longest/Hardest type thing
- An assement of what the users "Average Walk" looks like, Senic Rim Hiker/Multi-Day hiker/Peak Bagger ... whatever just an idea of what the user likes to get upto
- A counter for total distance walked on ticked tracks…4 votesThe counter for total distance has now been added to the profile page. I’ll keep considering what else I can add from this – I’d definitely like to add some more stats like this for users.

Upgrade Walk Image Feature
Upgrade Images
The image current resolution for walks is currently 640 x 480 (VGA) this is too low for modern day machines. Possibly because the resolution is so low but after the compression is applied (during the upload) the image looks blurred and detail is lost. Could you consider to double or quadruple the resolution?
Collect the GPS co-ordinates from the image (for future-use). Maybe provide a tickbox so the user can opt not to provide the GPS data (for privacy). The GPS data could be handy if the uploaded gpx/kml was drawn onto a map. The photos could be…

Ability to delete photos and alter the caption
It would be great if the person who submits the photo had the ability to delete it and alter the attached caption. At the moment if a user submits the wrong photo they must contact you so it can be removed. Sometimes I look at the caption of my photos and want to change it (if it's a plant, animal I like to include the latin name I sometimes discover this after I have uploaded).
Users shouldn't be able to delete/alter someone elses' photos.
3 votesGood idea. Would have come in handy for some recent support requests as well.

Show more "news" items on the frontpage
News items disappear from the front page too quickly. It'd be nice to see some more there or to be able to browse through more pages of news.

Can't Find Link to UserVoice (this forum)
Users can't post ideas if the link is not accessible on the site. Are you thinking of moving this to the forum instead?
0 votesThe link is still available on the contact us page (https://www.aussiebushwalking.com/contact) which is in the footer on every page. I’ll look into whether I can make it more prominent. I still plan on keeping UserVoice for ideas but discussion on the forum will be good too.

Clicking Thumbnails on Home Page Leads to Deadend
At the moment when you click a thumbnail on the home page (news feed) it will show you the image but there is no 'nice' way to return to the previous page (you have to click the back button).
In a walk pages you are presented with a photo gallery control, the front page should also present the gallery.
0 votesCan do. Will probably make them use the lightbox when viewing on a pc same as on the walk pages.

Suggest a Walk Alert Page per region to describe any track closures
For example on 31st January I went to walk Tibrogargan but found it closed due to a recent bushfire. I have changed the walk description to include this info but a page dedicated to this would be easier to update and peruse prior to heading out.
3 votesGood idea. I’ve been thinking about something like this for awhile, but just want to make sure I can find a way of easily keeping it up to date.

make it easier to enter the location of a walk
I'm having trouble entering walks as the map doesn't seem to load so that I can pinpoint the walk. Could you perhaps give clearer instructions on how to do this?

uploading of photos

Checklist for required items
For people creating walks. A checklist of items needed such as 4WD, ropes, clear weather (dangerous if wet, creek crossings), etc. Most is normally covered in the description but just a suggeston!
2 votesI’d like to keep this in the description but I’ll look at how we may better prompt users to include it when writing descriptions.

Question area on individual walk page
Something similar to leaving comments after the walk but a box to ask a question about the walk before going on it. With the ability for someone else to leave an answer there.

Nearby Walks
When on a specific walks page there could be a section for nearby walks.
3 votesOn the plan. I have some ideas to improve the data quality which should hopefully include capturing which walks leave from the same place so that will help this out as well.

Mode of Transport
It would be great if you could indicate on each walk which mode of transport it is accessible by (i.e four checkboxes on the detail view: car, 4WD, train, bus). Many people do not have their own car and have to rely on public transport. Having no indicator on the walk page makes it difficult to know whether the walk is accessible to the user. In the future it would be great to filter walks based on these eg "only show me walks accessible by train".
Here is another screenshot of a site that has this feature implemented:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6r9ig4kgckdeapd/transport%20indicator.JPG0 votesDefinitely want this info in there, just not sure the best way to do it. I’m considering whether it could just be part of the tag system with some prompting in the editor to get people to use it.
